Golden's 6 Summits
Results
It was a tough event, these 34 miles with 6550 ft. of climb, especially with around 88 degrees in the afternoon. But a very strong team of 11 walkers had no DNFs! It was great that 5 walkers, which had other commitments in the afternoon, nevertheless came in the morning to walk with us the 19 miles of loop 1.
Thank you very much, all of you, for participating!

It was an honor and a pleasure to be included in this year's 'Golden 6 Summits' fast group-hike that was put on by Ulli and Traudl. As it was my first event with this group I was both excited and nervous. I realized right away that I couldn't find a friendlier, more encouraging group of athletes to spend my first 'longer' distance event with. Everyone accepted me and my inexperience. They were extremely helpful, offering technique and training tips, as well as entertaining- by sharing countless anecdotes. It is unfortunate that I was not able to complete the 2nd and 3rd loops, however I felt proud to have traversed a 'personal-best' distance with that group.
Special thanks to Traudl who was a beacon of hope at the end of each stage, waiting with words of encouragement and tools of nourishment- and hydration.
And 'thank you' to Ulli for allowing me to participate, and for making me feel a part of the team. I anxiously await the next event.
Thanks again!

Another great Ultra put on by RDs Ulli and Traudl Kamm, was held on Sat. June the 5th in the beautiful foothills around the Historic Frontier Town of Golden, Colorado! The race consisted of 3 Loops, with a total mileage of approx. 35 miles.
Loop # 1 consisted of climbs over Mt. Zion, Lookout Mt., Indian Mt. and South Table Mt. and it was the longest of the loops, with a total mileage of almost 20 miles and elevation gain of 3,800 ft.
Loop # 2 consisted of only one climb over Mt. Galbright or Mt. Galbraith to be more correct! This climb took place around 1:30pm or so and by this time the temp. had climbed into the 90s and with all that exposure and the steep climbs and no shade, we all really felt it, but we all made it okay! Total distance was approx. 5.5 or 6 miles with total climb of 1,650ft.
Loop # 3 the last loop, consisted of one major climb over North Table Mt., total mileage approx. 9 miles and total climb of 1,100ft. By this time it was around 4:30pm and the weather was really threatening, with a lot of clouds and lightning and thunder all around us, but we were very fortunate because it all by-passed us and we were treated with this gorgeous rainbow and to the left and right of us we were also treated by the beautiful sight of herds of dear grazing peacefully in the meadow!
We kept encouraging each other and talking about various things and of course Ulli as always, he was entertaining us with old stories and some great jokes, which kept us motivated and made the 13 something hours go very quickly!
But the top prize goes to Traudl, who was always waiting for us at the various aid-stations, with great sandwiches, drinks and everything else that we requested and gave us a big smile and a great hug as we departed! We couldn't have done it without her!
This was really a great training Ultra for any major upcoming 100 milers and the organization was excellent! Looking forward to the next one! Thanks a million to both Ulli and Traudl for a job well done!!
One more thing I would like to mention is that the expenses for the food and the drinks should not be coming out of your own pockets, but we as runners should bear the cost of such items!
Again great job Ulli and Traudl,
your friend Nico and family.

Ulli
and Traudl should work for the Colorado Board of Tourism since they consistently
do a great job in show casing our great Colorado outdoor playground.
They have once more directed a successful, challenging group Ultra walk.
Eleven of us showed up for our tour of Golden's mountains and trails. Many of
these trails start quite literally in our own backyard but take us to places few
bother to go.
We had perfect weather during the entire day even as we watched from the top of
North Table Mt. 2 different storms moving away from us.
We were well fed and provided for by Traudl at regular intervals throughout the
day.
Ulli's and Traudl's events area a unique, fun filled way to spend time competing
as a team for a group finish. They give anyone who wants to push there endurance
level to higher limits the chance to succeed. From veteran ultra runners
to newcomers we share stories and encouragement remembering that it's the joy of
the journey not just the finish line that we are after.
I look forward to the next event and hope to see the new friends that I have
made again.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to participate in yet another of Ulli's fantastic events. The weather was perfect as were the conditions.
Unfortunately I was one of the group who had cut-out after 1 loop in order to fulfill other obligations in the afternoon but the time I spent was well worth it.
With the abbreviated mileage (19.1) I was able to talk my fiancé into participating in her first event ever. She loved it thanks to the great hospitality of Ulli and Traudl.
I am truly looking forward to the next event as is my Bride.
Thanks for everything.

I
was privileged to be able to participate in another one of Traudl and Ulli
Kamm’s fine events on June 5. The
course ingeniously connected six summits in the Golden, CO, area by mainly
single-track trails. Loop 1
consisted of Mt. Zion, Lookout Mountain, Indian Mountain, and South Table
Mountain. Loop 2 added Mt.
Galbraith and Loop 3 added North Table Mountain.
Needless to say, there was no shortage of climbing!
Traudl
once again outdid herself by providing a mobile aid station. She
would drive ahead to set up a feast for us and then pack up to move to the
next location after we left. I
ate a whole turkey of sandwiches, each one accompanied by Traudl’s beautiful
smile.
I
really enjoyed the company of the rest of the walkers.
They were a very strong group and fun to talk with.
I hope each and every one of them comes back to future events.
Thanks
again to Traudl and Ulli.

Sorry
it took so long for me to Thank You for the great day in Golden! I finally
took the time to figure out how to send these pictures. You and Traudl made
this a most wonderful experience. My first adventure going to where I knew no
one and you all made me feel part of the group! Hope you enjoy the photos.
