"Café
to Café"
- We meet at a coffee place before the start –
currently it’s Starbucks. As we are using this place, please buy something,
a cup of coffee, herb tea or whatever
- Walking as a group we move from one “Café” to
the next. These places are mostly self- serve deli departments in big
supermarkets, with chairs, tables and restrooms. In some cases we go to a
chinese buffet or similar place. At many stops co-director Traudl will be
there; she will also set up some moving aid stations between “Cafés”
- Doing loops of different length, we will come
back several times to the place where we started (especially at night).
This way you can get to the stuff in your car or even take a break for a
loop.
- Finish is at the same coffee place where we
started – at least as long as our crowd doesn’t get too big. Again, please
buy something to ensure we are welcome and can come back next time
- Crews
can meet walking team also outside official stops, helping all team members
- We will have pre-race and post-race activities.
Walkers and crews have to pay whatever they consume
- Awards will be mailed afterwards.
This way names and distances covered can be engraved
Advantages of the “Café
to Café” Concept
- Very low entry fee. You pay for food and drinks
at the “Cafés”. This way you only spend money on what you really want
- Stops are in most cases in a building (warm,
dry), with chairs, tables and restrooms
- Easy to find and lots of parking for crews
- If you want to skip a section, your crew (not
the organization) or a taxi can bring you to the next stop, where you can enjoy
life warm and sheltered at the deli till the group shows up
- Course
changes are possible while walking. Reasons can be: extreme weather like lots
if snow and ice, unforeseen trail closures etc.
"Café
to Café 100" in 2002 was a great success. Check out the reports.
