Well it's been about a day now, since doing the CTC 40 and my feet as well as the rest of my body has almost recovered!

My impressions about this wonderful low-key event, put up by non other but the "king" of Ultra- Walking Ulli Kamm, which took us through 3 towns or principalities (Arvada, Broomfield and Westminster) to add a little variety to our group walk, took place on Sat. Nov. 16th, 2002.This event was just a dry-run or a test run for the major event planned for us by Ulli, in May 2003, the CTC 150.

Well, the race started exactly at 8:00 a.m. on a crisp but beautiful morning and with the exception of a couple of entrants who didn't show up, the rest of us were eager to enjoy the beautiful day, stored for us! Temps were in the 40's and 50's under beautiful Colorado blue skies and we were all treated to a gorgeous view of the Colorado Front Range with all it's snow capped mountains! The air was clean and crisp and as we took off we really enjoyed each other's company, by sharing personal stories and other running related stories! The time really went very fast as we looped around this huge course passing through neighborhoods, parks and lakes filled with ducks! The course was really interesting and very pleasant with the exception of some busy crossings, which were unavoidable. Other than that, the course was really excellent and some concrete portions of the trail couldn't be avoided!

Ulli did an excellent job in researching and planning and measuring the course and should be given a credit for a well organized event!

Now comes the best part and that's the excellent job that Traudl did at the portable aid stations, always being there on time and always having everything that each of us needed for nourishment and hydration and going the extra mile to make us feel good! She really deserves an A+ in her effort to keep us motivated and well nourished! Thank you very much Traudl for all that you have done for us, including the big hugs which gave us a lot of inspiration!!

Again, thanks a million Ulli and Traudl and we'll see you all next spring,

Your friend, Nico M. Solomos
